In the context of open science becoming increasingly popular and affected by international policies and requirements for science and technology integration, the issue of enhancing open science publishing in Vietnam has gained significance and urgency. This article presents a bibliometric study on open access publishing in science and technology in recent years at 27 higher education institutions under the Ministry of Education and Training. Data collected from the Scopus database over 10 years from 2015 to 2024 were analyzed to explore trends in open publishing and funding sources for open access publications. The findings show that the proportion of open access publications increased significantly in the period 2019-2024, in which Gold open access is the most preferred publishing model. The study also shows that nearly 64% of open access publications were supported by domestic and foreign funding sources. The research results not only provide a comprehensive view of the trends and funding resources for open access publishing in universities in the field of Engineering and Technology, but also contribute to policy and strategy orientation to promote open science in Vietnam in the current period of international integration.
